A couple of people posted the same thing on my facebook, but I didn't click on the link because I just assumed it was nonsense. But it's actually an amazing thing to witness.
Basically mucking around on Caspian. The game seems exactly what I would have hoped for in terms of a sequel to BF2. Everything is running pretty smoothly here as well- minimum lag, good fps.
"Once the game is out on retail I'll remake the LFS platoon (almost 20 members now) and we could play together some time. "
Dude was a multi billionaire... if there was someone in business who could have made a difference in the conditions of the average tech worker, it was him. Anyway, it's extremely inappropriate to be talking trash about someone on the day of their death, so I'll just stop. Sorry to be not feeling the love...
Btw, did you hear the news on Facebook? Steve Jobs has just died.
I can't get too emotional about this. Sure he made decent stuff- but there's this impression that everything Apple has done has happened in some kind of bubble of genius, and not in concert with the innovations of the rest of the tech industry. The last years of Apple show Capitalism at its worst... horrible working conditions in China, Jobs' refusal to get into philanthropy (when you have that much money and you're not a philanthropist, there is something seriously wrong with your values), the brainwashing of people into upgrading from last years perfect tech object to this years more than perfect tech object... I think people love Apple because it fashionised tech geekery. It's just a computer for fs.
As a big budget PC focused titled unhooked from console limitations, the game is currently underwhelming. I've had to reshuffle my expectations a bit to appreciate that BF3 is more iterative improvement than revolution. BF2 on graphical steroids fits about right. No judgements until final though.
I think you probably need to experience the bigger maps to see what it's all about. On the other hand, I'm starting to enjoy the beta map the more I play it.
